New restrictions for Benzophenone-3 and Octocrylene – Deadline: July 28, 2023

Cosmetics with below UV filters can no longer be on the EU market, if they do not meet the new restrictions. Have a look at the table below to see the applicable concentration limits included in Annex VI:

The new restrictions will apply from July 28, 2023, for products available on the EU market. Therefore, beauty brands have time until July 28, 2023, to sell non-compliant products already on the market. After that date, unsold products must be taken off the shelves.  January 28, 2023, was the last day to place products non-compliant with the new restrictions on the EU market.

As the deadline is approaching, we warmly invite you to check with your supply chain about the status of your products containing Benzophenone-3 and Octocrylene so that you can act if needed.

The regulatory framework of cosmetic products is continuously evolving, so it can be challenging to keep up with changes. Here is where we step in!
