Starting 12 August 2026, the EU’s new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) replaces Directive 94/62/EC with a single, harmonized law across all 27 Member States. Applying to all economic operators—including manufacturers, importers, and online marketplaces—the PPWR introduces immediate requirements from day one with no grace period, including PFAS restrictions on food-contact packaging, technical documentation, tracking information, and EU Declarations of Conformity for all packaging formats.
