Swissdamed device registration becomes mandatory
July 1 – December 31
From 1 July 2026, manufacturers placing medical devices and IVDs on the Swiss market must ensure their devices are registered in swissdamed, Switzerland’s national medical device database managed by Swissmedic.
The deadline introduces new registration and compliance responsibilities for both manufacturers and their Swiss Authorised Representatives, making swissdamed registration an essential part of maintaining access to the Swiss market.
Economic operators have until 31 December 2026 to complete existing device registrations. However, devices subject to vigilance reporting must be registered without delay and cannot benefit from this transition period.
For manufacturers established outside Switzerland, registration is handled through their Swiss Authorised Representative (CH-REP).
